Op het http://www.mbklassiekerclub.nl/ dat onderdeel uitmaakt van onze Wclubs, hebben wij o.a een zeer gewaardeerde moderator.
Ook is deze moderator, Mark, zeer begaan met het lot van de medemens.

Met een hele club mensen gaat Mark zich in zetten voor een verschrikkelijke spierziekte Duchenne, en zoekt dus sponsors.

Heren en dames,

Volgend jaar september ga ik voor het goede doel Duchenne Heroes fietsen. Dit is een zware meerdaagse mountainbike tocht van 700 km in 7 dagen. Deze tocht ga ik zoals het er nu uitziet fietsen met een team van 8 man. (ieder fietst de 700 km)
Het opgehaalde sponsorgeld wordt besteed aan onderzoek naar de nu nog ongeneeslijke spierziekte Duchenne Spierdystrofie. Deze ziekte, die voornamelijk voorkomt bij jongens zorgt ervoor dat de spieren afgebroken worden.
Kinderen met Duchenne Spierdystrofie vallen vaak en kunnen niet goed rennen. Met ongeveer 10 jaar, wordt lopen erg moeilijk, en worden de kinderen afhankelijk van een rolstoel. En als de spieren die voor ademhalen nodig zijn te zwak worden, is beademing nodig. Ook de hartspier wordt steeds zwakker. Hierdoor is Duchenne Spierdystrofie uiteindelijk fataal.
